Job Vacancy For Head of Research and Advocacy



A reputable Business Support Organisation (BSO) is seeking to engage a qualified person for the position of Head of Research and Advocacy to provide strategic input, guidance and undertake research in all economic, political and social issues that directly or indirectly affect the economic and social interest of its member firms.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Head of Research and Advocacy shall perform the following duties

• Initiate and manage research, policy development, advocacy and strategy across a broad range of policy areas
• Prepare position papers on government policies and other related issues, memos and presentations
• Conduct economic studies and analysis of macroeconomic policies to guide the BSOs policy dialogue and advocacy
• Analyse government budget statements to identify all issues that directly or indirectly affect the BSO or its members
• Conduct industry study, sector analysis and surveys
• Develop and implement an advocacy and stakeholder engagement plan to effectively influence the political, legistative and regulatory environment impacting business and industry
• Track, review and disseminate relevant research conducted by the department to internal stakeholders
• Seek and manage the development and distribution of new / innovative methods for sharing research findings with internal and external stakeholders
• Conduct market, competitive and business intelligence research for both the BSO an its clients
• Undertake periodic reviews of the Ghanaian and world economy and outlook
• Gather and maintain trade and investment information
• Prepare project proposals for the BSO and its member firms
• Maintain a database of members to ensure information on members is readily available
• Build, strengthen and supervise staff within the department and
• Handle special projects

Qualification Required & Experience

The Head of Research and Advocacy must have the following essential qualities for consideration

• A minimum of an MPhil degree in Economics or Master's degree in any social science subject Business Administration, relevant specialist subject with a minimum of 3 years professional working experience in public, private and non-profit organisations
• An in-depth understanding of the Ghanaian private sector and government policies and programmes
• Strategic thinking ability, strong multitasking skills, persistent and problem-solving attitude
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis, assertive and confident
• Excellent oral and written presentation, communication, networking skills and interpersonal relationships
• Capacity in manage subordinates performance, provide coaching, feedback and support to build staff capacity
• High integrity, good planning, organising and coordinating skills and excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure
