Title: Head of Unit, Diamond Operations
Reports To: Director, Technical

Job Summary: Oversees diamond sourcing, processing, valuation, and compliance with international standards in the diamond trade in line with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop standards for ethical diamond sourcing and valuation, ensuring responsible sourcing, fair trade practices, and sustainable supply chain operations.
• Lead the development and execution of policies for responsible diamond trade, supporting sector-wide regulatory improvements, risk mitigation strategies, and ethical sourcing initiatives to strengthen Ghana’s role in the global diamond value chain.
• Introduce and oversee the adoption of modern diamond tracking and verification technologies, enhancing real-time oversight, transaction transparency, and security across the diamond supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) by reviewing documentation, verifying supply chain integrity, and preventing conflict diamonds from entering legitimate trade channels.
• Monitor international diamond trade trends, geopolitical risks, and evolving regulatory landscapes, advising the Organisation’s leadership on market dynamics, investment opportunities, and competitive strategies.
• Lead quality control and assurance practices within the unit by conducting regular audits to identify and address any deviations in quality or compliance.

Qualification Required & Experience

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Geology, Mineral Economics, International Trade or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in valuation, regulatory compliance, with at least four years in a senior role.
• Decision-making in diamond classification, certification, and market distribution.
• Strategic planning for ethical sourcing, valuation methodologies, and export processes.
• Strong leadership in managing diamond officers and quality control teams.
• Expertise in diamond grading, valuation, and gemmological analysis.
• Knowledge of international diamond certification standards (e.g., GIA, IGI).
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision in diamond assessment.
• High Ethical Standards.
