A reputable investment company seeks the services of a Head, Research and Strategy

Job Purpose

• To work closely with the group chief executive officer (GCEO) to provide strategic financial guidance and support for all portfolio companies. This role is responsible for advising on financial strategy implementation, capital structuring, liquidity management and financial negotiations, ensuring that each portfolio company is positioned for sustainable growth and financial stability

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and prepare reports to contribute toward strategic planning and operational efficiency of all portfolio companies
• Assist the GCEO in providing strategic advice to portfolio companies on the implementation and execution of financial strategies to drive growth and profitability
• Support portfolio companies in the development of long-term strategic plans, revenue budgeting processes and identifying new business opportunities to maximise shareholder value
• Continuously analyse financial market trends, economic conditions and regulatory changes to provide insights and recommendations that align with business objectives
• Regularly assess and recommend optimal capital structures for portfolio companies, considering risk management, taxation, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate liquidity levels for each portfolio company, ensuring a balanced composition of each, investments and available banking facilities
• Provide strategies advice on structuring financial instruments, ensuring cost effective and risk appropriate financing solutions
• Assist the GCEO in advising portfolio companies on negotiations with financial service providers, ensuring cost effective and risk appropriate financing solutions
• Assist the GCEO in advising portfolio companies on negotiations with financial service providers, ensuring favorable terms on credit facilities, investment structures and financial partnerships
• Support the GCEO in structuring and arranging acquisition financing as required for potential mergers and acquisitions
• Provide financial due diligence and valuation assessments on potential investment opportunities, identifying risks and potential returns
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with key financial stakeholders, including banks, investors, regulators and financial institutions, to gain insights into financial matters affecting portfolio companies
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment of financial strategies with overall business objectives

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field;
• MBA or Postgraduate degree in finance, Accounting or related field
• ACCA, CA, CIMA or CFA designation
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, strategy consulting, investment banking or corporate finance. Experience in managing capital market transactions will be an added advantage.
• Proven track record in capital structuring, liquidity management and strategic financial planning
• Strong understanding of mergers and acquisitions, investment analysis and financial risk management
• Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and leadership skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation analysis, budgeting and forecasting tools
