Project Brief:
As the central point of contact for the private sector, the Agency for Business and Economic Development (AWE), together with a global network of advisors, advises companies, business associations and social partners on cooperation and funding opportunities in development cooperation. In collaboration with private-sector partners and bi- and multilateral programmes, AWE develops project ideas and brings them to implementation. In Ghana, AWE connects local market needs with German/EU private sector solutions in areas such as sustainable value chains/nearshoring, climate and resources, and sustainable energy.
Scope of Role
We seek a Junior Technical Advisor to support the origination and implementation of private-sector cooperation in Ghana by conducting needs assessments, facilitating partnerships, advising on BMZ/EU development and foreign trade instruments, coordinating with trade promotion and GIZ’s NIED Cluster, interfacing with AWE Germany for reporting and handling administrative tasks
Tasks
In his role as Junior Technical Advisor, the successful candidate is responsible for the following tasks:
• Support advisory services for companies on BMZ/EU instruments (e.g. develoPPP), in coordination with AWE experts in
Germany.
• Support the identification of cooperation potentials between “Cooperation with the Private Sector (ZmW)” instruments and the GIZ portfolio in Ghana/the region; contribute to the origination and co?design of cooperation projects (on sustainable value chains, climate and resources, sustainable energy).
• Coordinate with local trade and investment promotion instruments and with the GIZ NIED Cluster in Ghana; support liaison with AWE Germany.
• Organize conferences, workshops, and trainings (logistics, documents, presentations, minutes, invitations).
• Manage administrative and procurement processes: organize travel; prepare and monitor procurement of goods and services in compliance with GIZ Processes and Rules (P+R).
• Prepare concept notes and reports; support knowledge management; contribute to monitoring and evaluation of project activities
Qualification required & Experience
• Master’s in economics, business, engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years’ experience in private sector cooperation/project development.
• Knowledge in sustainable supply chains and/or climate mitigation/energy efficiency.
• Familiarity with development cooperation instruments (e.g., BMZ/EU) or fast learning ability.
• Ability to prioritize and deliver assigned tasks diligently under strict deadlines.
• Excellent skills in writing and speaking English; German is an asset.
• Ability to work proactively and independently
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
