Job Vacancy For LE 3 Deputy Security Officer At British High Commission (BHC)



The British High Commission (BHC) Accra has a vacancy from 1st December 2012 for an LE 3 Deputy Security Officer. While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to ensure security operations are well organized, the officer must also pay attention to details as well as deliver a standard of service that meets the High Commission’s expectations.

The job-holder will report to the Security Officer.

The main elements of the job include:

•  Working with the Security officer on day to day management of BHC security
•  Assisting in the implementation of security procedures and maintenance of standards throughout the estate
•  Being  point of contact for all staff on security related issues
•  Maintaining existing technical security elements throughout the mission
•  Liaising with local law enforcement and government contacts
•  Carry out Security Assessments and risk profiles

Line management responsibilities

The skills/attributes of the successful applicant will include:

•  Communicating and influencing skills, with a strong customer focus, adopting different styles as necessary.
•  Team player
•  Ability to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.

Qualification Required & Experience

The successful applicant is likely to have one or more of

•  Industry certification or 7 years minimum international experiences within the security sector.
•  Evidence of working under high pressure environments.
•  Structured career path within the sector with evidence of proven capabilities.
•  Fluency in English and minimum one Ghanaian language
•  Strong security focus and developed report writing skills
•  Working knowledge of French
•  Be on call 24/7

•  The monthly starting gross salary for LE3 positions in the High Commission is GHc1, 314.
•  The appointment will be offered initially on a 1 year contract, and subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. Thereafter, the appointment will be renewed for periods of 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance, by mutual agreement.
•  Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate.
