The University of Ghana Medical School, (UGMS), a constituent of the College of Health Sciences, was established in 1962 with primary obejctives to train:-

•  Broad-based generalist practitioners with sufficient grounding for subsequent specialisation
•  Practitioners functionally attuned to and therefore responding aptly to the needs and exigencies of their environment and able to attain internationally accepted standards
•  Practitioners who have participated in healthcare delivery while under instruction and therefore cognizant of the problems of delivery of healthcare in the rural/urban settings,
•  Individuals who accepts responsibility for self-learning and therefore readily responsible to the call for continuing medical education, and
•  Advocates for community health needs

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates/applicants for appointment to full time positions of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor in the following Departments of the UGMS:

Para-Clinical Sciences Departments:

Clinical Sciences Departments:

•  Anaesthesia
•  Centre for Tropical, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics
•  Child Health
•  Community Health
•  Medicine & Therapeutics
•  Obstetrics & Gynaecology
•  Psychiatry
•  Radiology
•  Surgery

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Candidates/applicants must be suitably experienced physicians with a PhD or exit/terminal professional qualifications in the areas of specialisation (i.e. A Fellow/Member of the Ghana/West Africa/Royal Colleges of Physicians or Surgeons or other equivalent Colleges)
•  Candidates with PhD degrees only will be considered for the Basic and Para-Clinical Sciences
