A reputable non-bank financial institution is seeking to recruit suitable persons as Life Underwriting Officer.

Purpose of the Position

• To Undertake prudent underwriting as well as good Life Policy administration to contribute towards the achievement of the company's objectives

Reports to: Head, Life Department

Duties & Responsibilities

Handle Policy Administration aspect of the international businesses with which includes the following:

• Send renewal notices to cedants
• Prepare renewal statements, upon receipt of current loan balances and group bordereaux for payment
• Process businesses, as well as payments in Slams
• Update SLAMS with records if alterations (e.g, lapses, cancellations, decrease or increase in sums assured etc) advised by the cedants
• Respond to all correspondence as and when required and within approved time limits
• New business underwriting, both local and international
• Follow up on outstanding closings, both local and international
• Handling quotations in consultation with the Head of Department
• Prepare new business statement of account on accepted business to enable cedants to pay their premiums
• Process accepted cases through SLAMS - the life software
• Draft monthly and quarterly technical reports
• Prepare and send quarterly renewal statements of accounts to cedants (international business)
• Send weekly reminders in respect of outstanding premiums (international)
• Any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree
• Must be fluent in English and French, both written and oral
• A minimum of 2 years experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry
