Summary of Job Description

• The functionary shall primarily be responsible for ensuring that all facilities and equipment in the hotel are maintained in good condition and are functioning smoothly


• Be responsible for the overall engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel
• Ensure that all training needs for team members are identified, processed promptly and undertaken at an appropriate time
• Organise and manage the maintenance department ensuring effective work and preventative maintenance measures to ensure continued operation of the entire facility
• Conducting regular inspections of the facilities in the hotel to detect and resolve problems
• Review all completed work orders, and inspect completed work as needed to ensure accuracy and quality
• Assist all department heads in handling any unusual maintenance-related guest complaints
• Acts swiftly to resolve emergencies as they arise
• Supervising equipment inventory and placing orders for replacement parts as needed
• Maintain open communications with all hotel departments to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
• Ensure all departments adhere to safety policies and procedures
• Determining methods for energy conservation and cost-cutting in the operation of the facility
• Liaise with the hotel's operational departments to ensure all guest needs and operational functions are prioritised
• Ensure necessary inspections of lifts, boilers etc are carried out and records maintained
• Arrange and negotiate service contracts
• Draw up specifications and obtain quotations for all work involving outside contractors/consultants. Monitor progress to ensure work is completed on time
• Ensure statutory testing is undertaken in all areas (i.e Water, electricity, gas etc)
• Prepare reports and report to management on periodic basis

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of Degree in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
• A professional certification is a plus
• The successful candidate must have experience in plumbing, electrical or general building maintenance sewage, carpentry and HVAC. Previous management experience within a maintenance function in a three to five-star hotel is desirable
• Experience in administrative processes
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills
• Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy
