JOB PURPOSE

This leader will be responsible for growing the Tigo business in Africa within the marketing organisation. He / She would have strong expertise in brand positioning, trade marketing, activations, sponsorship/events, merchandising and strategic planning.  In addition, he/ she would have absolute confidence in discussing, advising and deciding marketing issues based on solid personal experience.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, communicate, secure the integrity of the Tigo Brand

•   Define a modern, compelling, powerful brand positioning for Tigo
•   Ensure specific below-the-line (BTL) brand guidelines are well established and followed
•   Delivering equity growth over time

BTL Marketing & strategic planning with all countries

•   Develop Africa key BTL marketing strategies in light of our overall regional vision and plan
•   Lead BTL strategic planning session with markets to ensure plans are robust, forward looking and able to deliver business goals
•   Track results, offer support and optimise processes
•   Ensure documentation of learnings and continuous sharing and application of best practices

Lead Pan Africa Activations Campaigns

•   Inspire creative excellence and new ways in implementing activations strategy
•   Identify scale and synergies
•   Provide guidance to countries

Lead Merchandising/Trade marketing strategy

•   Deliver an effective, robust trade marketing strategy
•   Coordinate the regional trade marketing/ merchandising purchases
•   Ensure cost saving and efficiencies
•   Find new ways of reaching the consumers within the trade

Lead Pan Africa Entertainment Projects

•   Develop pan African entertainment solutions in line with business goals
•   Lead and coordinate continent wide entertainment projects (music, sports…)
•   Align markets and leadership team on pan regional entertainment projects

Grow the organization:
 
•   Responsible for delivering results as well as grow the organisation
•   Create relevant systems and processes
•   Train the organisation formally and “on the job”
•   Coach on the areas of trade marketing, sponsorship/events, activations, etc…

Ensure regular competitive/market trend analysis and that Tigo is well positioned to drive strong growth.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree, MBA preferred
•   Extensive marketing / brand management experience of mass products / premium brands
•   Experience in portfolio management
•   Experience in managing businesses in Africa
