Job Vacancy For Midwife At Marie Stopes International (Kumasi)

Job Summary

The position of the Midwife, In-Reach is to serve as a lead midwife in the provision of family planning services, facilitation of small group discussions as well as general mobilisation of clients for service provision including organising the Kayayeis and other disadvantaged and vulnerable groups who need the services of MSIG. The successful Midwife will be required to work in the Kumasi metropolis.

Key responsibilities include:

•   Provide core MSIG Clinical services including IUCD, Implant insertion etc
•   Identify appropriate training needs for the disadvantage and vulnerable groups and arrange appropriate trainings as needed
•   Conduct informal group discussions, manage peer educator trainings and referral schedules
•   Liaise with information services department or other similar organisations to set up evening film shows at project sites and facilitate film shows
•   Liaise with local partners such as GHS/DOWSU to communicate and implement project deliverables
•   Keep and manage records of all field activities including minutes of team meetings and make proper use of available information systems in MSIG to facilitate service delivery and trainings.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Diploma in Midwifery or any recognised clinical qualification in Midwifery
•   B.A in Midwifery will be an advantage
•   Must be registered with a recognised local clinical professional body in Ghana preferably the Nurses and Midwife Council
•   A minimum of three years work experience as a midwife and registered with a professional organisation in Ghana
•   Experience working in Sexual Reproductive Health as well as with the vulnerable and marginalised groups
•   Excellent skills in provider-client interaction, good written and verbal communication
•   Basic computer skills in Microsoft word, excel and power point
•   Work experience with Ghana Health Service and/or a Health related NGO
•   Articulate and analytical skills with attention to detail and knowledge of health delivery system in Ghana
•   Must be multi-skilled, have requisite experience in customer relation and must be able to work with minimum supervision
•   Must be prochoice
