Job Vacancy For National Technical Assistant At (COTVET)



The Government of the Republic of Ghana (GOG) is in the final stages of securing a loan and a grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) amounting to UA 70 million. The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) is the executing agency for the project. The loan is meant to finance the Development of Skills for Industry Project (DSIP). The project is expected to establish a high quality, equitable, market-responsive and cost-effective technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system in order to increase the number of immediately employable Ghanaian graduates; restructure the skills development sector to ensure increasing access, reduce the skills gap; modernize equipment; train teachers and generally improve the quality and relevance of TVET offerings.

COTVET now intends to apply part of the proceeds of this facility to eligible payments under the contract for the engagement of suitably qualified individuals for the following position to be based at the Project Support Unit of the Council for Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (COTVET) in Accra;

National Technical Assistant (1 No):

•  Assist in identifying problems and proposing remedial actions to accelerate/improve project delivery;
•  Assist in preparing and organizing logistical issues in relation to the various aspects of the project in accordance with the work schedule;
•  Managing all training and capacity building activities;
•  Assist in preparing training packages, specifically designed to increase the capacities of the project staff;
•  Assist in ensuring effective management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities as per the work plan focusing on achieving the set outputs and outcome;
•  Assist in organizing and conducting of training and capacity building programmes for key project personnel;
•  Assist in building partnerships with key stakeholders, knowledge building and knowledge sharing as required by the project;
•  Assist the project team by efficiently managing the performance of staff reporting directly and provide leadership for the successful development and implementation of the project;
•  Assist in reporting progress and achievements to Government and AfDB as required;
•  Assist in managing all programme related files, documents, correspondence and respond to programme related queries and prepare high quality project reports;
•  Carry out any other work assigned from time to time as per administrative convenience and exigencies of the work

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

•  Bachelors' Degree in Business, Human Resources, Management, Social Sciences, or in any related fields;
•  At least 1 year of professional experience in the managing human resources;
•  At least 1 year of experience associated with capacity building and training on both technical and institution building aspects;
•  At least 1 year of working experience in donor project management
•  Good knowledge of sequence of events, logistics and other factors that will impact the development, progress and safe completion of projects
•  Experience in monitoring schedules for multiple, simultaneous projects
•  Good networking, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
•  Strong analytical, writing and communication skills;
•  Excellent computer skills;
•  Innovative, flexible and result-oriented and pro-active;
•  Proven track record in working effectively within multidisciplinary teams;
•  Fluent in written and oral communication in English
