Job Vacancy For Principal Industrial Relations Officer At National Labour Commission (NLC)



The National Labour Commission (NLC) established under the Labour Act, 2003, (Act 651) invites suitably qualified persons to occupy the above position.

Department: Industrial Relations

Main Duties:

•   Conduct investigations into labour and/or technical disputes and related issues as may be directed
•   Participate in the settlement of industrial disputes through facilitation
•   Draft Rulings and Agreements on settled cases
•   Prepare quarterly periodic reports on various issues that result in labour agitations and disputes
•   Co-ordinate the conduct of research into labour issues and other related areas and make recommendations to the Head of Department for consideration
•   Attend to enquiries of Facilitation Panels

Salary: The salary level attached to each of the above position is attractive and commensurate to the position.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of Bachelor's Degree from a recognised tertiary institution in Human Resource Management (HRM), Sociology or related field
•   A post-graduate qualification in related discipline will be an added advantage
•   A minimum of nine (9) years working experience in similar or related field

Additional Requirements:

•   Diploma/Certificate in Industrial Relations
•   Knowledge and/or Experience in Collective Bargaining

Competencies:

•   Application of the Labour Act 2003, (Act 651); Labour Regulations, 1822 & 1833; Workmen's Compensation Law, 1987 (PNDCL 187); Factories, Offices, and Shops Act 1970, as amended by PNDCL 66 and the Children's Act 1998 (Act 560)
•   Labour Administration
•   Computer proficiency
•   Research, Analytical and Negotiation skills
•   Must be able to work with little or no supervision
•   Must be able to work under pressure
•   Good command of the English language both spoken and written
•   Ability to face challenges and use own initiative at difficult ties
•   Team player
