Title: Principal Officer, Assaying
Reports To: Unit Head, Assaying
Job Summary:
Support the Unit Head in managing assay operations, ensuring accurate gold purity determination, compliance with standards, and efficient laboratory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the execution of assay procedures, ensuring accurate gold purity and composition analysis.
• Conduct laboratory-based gold purity analyses using advanced testing methods, including fire assay, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and spectrometry.
• Support the Unit Head in providing advisory oversight to external aggregators and foundries.
• Enforce stringent quality control measures, conducting repeat tests where necessary to confirm accuracy and consistency of assay results.
• Investigate assay discrepancies and implement corrective measures to address variances.
Qualification Required & Experience
Skills and Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Material Science, Mining Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in assaying, metallurgical analysis, and laboratory management, with at least two (2) years in a senior role.
• Experience in laboratory procedures and assay techniques.
• Expertise in fire assay, spectrometry, and other metal testing methodologies.
• Understanding of gold purity determination and analytical methods.
• Familiarity with metallurgical analysis, impurity detection, and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in laboratory software and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of quality control and safety standards.
• Strong analytical and data management skills.
