Job Vacancy For Project Assistant At (COTVET)



The Government of the Republic of Ghana (GOG) is in the final stages of securing a loan and a grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) amounting to UA 70 million. The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) is the executing agency for the project. The loan is meant to finance the Development of Skills for Industry Project (DSIP). The project is expected to establish a high quality, equitable, market-responsive and cost-effective technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system in order to increase the number of immediately employable Ghanaian graduates; restructure the skills development sector to ensure increasing access, reduce the skills gap; modernize equipment; train teachers and generally improve the quality and relevance of TVET offerings.

COTVET now intends to apply part of the proceeds of this facility to eligible payments under the contract for the engagement of suitably qualified individuals for the following position to be based at the Project Support Unit of the Council for Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (COTVET) in Accra;

Project Assistant (1 No):

•  Responsible for providing general administrative support to the project
•  Take own initiative and perform daily work in compliance with the General Administrative Manual and Programme and Project Manuals
•  Assist project management in performing budget cycle; planning, preparation, revisions and budget execution
•  Assistance to the Project team in all project implementation activities
•  Assist project team in drafting project progress implementation reports
•  Assist the project team in generation and dissemination of high quality information about project activities among national and international stakeholders
•  Perform preparatory work for mandatory and general Budget Revisions, annual physical inventory and auditing and assist external evaluators in fulfilling their mission
•  Provide assistance in all logistics arrangements concerning project implementation
•  Make logistical arrangements for the organization of meetings and round tables;
•  When necessary, provide secretarial support for the project staff;
•  Provide backstopping to the team of international consultants during their missions to Ghana
•  Assume overall responsibility for administrative matters of a more general nature, such as registry and maintenance of project files
•  Perform all other administrative and financial related duties, upon request

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

•  University degree in social sciences, management, public relations or related fields;
•  Experience in administrative work, preferably in a public sector organisation;
•  A demonstrated ability in liaising and cooperating with Government officials, Donors;
•  Self motivated and availability to work under the pressure;
•  Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others;
•  Flexible and willing to travel as required;
•  Excellent communication skills, including inter-personal;
•  Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in English;
•  Good knowledge of Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Excel is necessary
