A reputable is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the position of Safety Guard
Job Summary
•The Safety Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel along the water fronts
•The role involves monitoring the water fronts and boats activities, enforcing safety regulations and supporting emergency response in line with operational standards
Key Responsibilities
•Monitor and patrol water fronts and boats berthing areas
•Enforce compliance with passengers wearing life jackets prior to boarding boats and before boats sail off the shores
•Respond promptly to emergencies such as persons drowning or any similar occurrence
•Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including life jackets
•Maintain detailed logs of incidents, inspection of watercrafts and daily activities
•Collaborate with local authorities, boat operators/owners, assemblies and the law enforcement agencies when necessary
•Perform field operational activities in respect of periodic surveillance, monitoring and pollution prevention at the inland waterways
•Perform delegated activities in relation to the inland waterways functions
•Provide inputs for the preparation of reports on the activities of the unit and assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
•Perform, monitor and evaluate periodic sensitization programmes and stakeholder engagements
•Assist with marking and registration of boats
•Assist with search and rescue activities
•Assist with accident investigations
•Perform any other delegated activities from time to time
Qualification Required & Experience
•Minimum of Junior High School (JHS) certificate
•Prior experience in security, preferably in ports, shipping or industrial environments is an advantage
•Basic knowledge of maritime safety standards (e.g, ISPS Code is an advantage)
•Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor conditions
•Strong observation and attention to detail
•Good communication and reporting skills
•Must be disciplined, trustworthy and alert
