Job Title: Senior Assistant Procurement Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Assistant Procurement Officer shall assist the Procurement Officer in the performance of their duties and in accordance with the relevant laws.

• Maintain and update of a proper database of suppliers, service providers and consultants,
• Prepare procurement plans for goods, works and services for the University,
• Assist in implementing systems and procedures to ensure value for money in the entity procurement activities,
• Assist in the process of advertising tenders and provide input for the formulation of procurement strategy for the University.

Have working knowledge of the relevant laws namely:

• Public Procurement (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 914)
• Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (Act 658)
• Audit Service Act, 2000 (Act 584)
• Valued Added Tax Act, 2013 (Act 870)
• Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896)

Qualification Required & Experience

• Applicant must hold a minimum of Masters’ Degree in Procurement Management plus a Professional Qualification in Procurement.
• Applicant must have a minimum of six years post qualification experience in a University or comparable institution/organisation
• Applicant must be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software applications.
