Key Tasks:

HR Operations Strategy & Service Delivery

• Develop and implement an enterprise-wide HR Operations strategy aligned to business and people priorities.
• Oversee end-to-end HR operational service delivery across the employee lifecycle (hire to exit).
• Lead organizational and system transformation initiatives, ensuring smooth operational change management.
• Champion a service-oriented HR model balancing efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, enabling seamless collaboration with HR Business Partners and Centers of Expertise

HR Process Excellence

• Design, standardize, and continuously improve HR operational processes, workflows, and SOPs.
• Implement automation, digitization, and self-service solutions to enhance scalability and efficiency.
• Establish governance controls and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure compliance and service consistency.
• Drive measurable improvements in turnaround times, error reduction, and employee satisfaction.
• Develop and implement HR operations policies to provide governance and compliance structures for employees

HR Systems, Data & Analytics

• Provide leadership oversight for HR systems usage, data integrity, and operational reporting.
• Partner with IT and vendors to optimize HRIS functionality, automation, and system integrations.
• Ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of employee data across all HR platforms.
• Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor HR Operations performance and support data-driven decision-making.
• Leverage data insights to proactively identify operational risks and improvement opportunities.

Payroll, Reward Operations & Second-Line Assurance

• Provide second-line assurance over payroll processes, reviews, and controls.
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll and reward operational issues.
• Validate salary proposals and employment offers to ensure equity and compliance.

Employee Relations & Operational Case Management

• Oversee operational handling of employee relations cases in line with labour laws and company policies.
• Provide operational support to line managers on disciplinary, grievance, and attendance matters.
• Partner with Legal and Employee Experience teams on union-related and collective matters where required.
• Ensure documentation, records, and case outcomes meet governance and audit standards.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

• Ensure HR Operations complies with labour laws, internal policies, and MTN Group standards.
• Maintain audit readiness and regulatory compliance across all HR processes.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate HR operational risks with robust controls.
• Maintain accurate records, controls, and compliance documentation.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and recommend operational adjustments as required.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management

• Partner closely with HR Business Partners to support business needs through strong operational delivery.
• Collaborate with Centres of Expertise to enable effective programme execution.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Legal, Procurement, and Internal Audit.
• Act as a trusted operational advisor to senior leaders and line managers.
• Manage operational change impacts during organizational or system transformations.
• Manage external HR service providers, including vendor selection, contracting, and SLA monitoring.
• Drive cost optimization while maintaining service quality and compliance.
• Ensure vendors comply with contractual, legal, and data protection requirements.

People Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead performance management and goal setting for HR Operations teams.
• Build operational capability through coaching, training, and structured development plans.
• Ensure succession planning, resourcing, and knowledge transfer within HR Operations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence

• Deliver HR services with consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Manage HR Operations budgets, forecasts, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Champion digital tools, automation, and self-service solutions to enhance employee experience.
• Uphold confidentiality, data protection, and ethical handling of employee information

Qualification Required & Experience

Education

• A University Degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, Psychology or related field.
• A postgraduate qualification or relevant certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SPHR, CIPD etc.) is a plus

Experience

• Proven experience as an HR leader with a track record of successfully managing HR Operations (End to end per tasks identified in job profile) and driving strategic HR initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labour laws and regulations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities in complex HR situations.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and business needs.
