Position Description:

•   Primary focus of this position will be on short and medium-term planning (weekly/monthly plan up to annual budget)
•   Incumbent will provide input and advice for long-term planning
•   The position will require the incumbent to develop strong working relationships with the mining operations department and will take part in daily production meetings with mining supervision
•   Position will require a strong safety management focus and commitment
•   Responsible for:
o  Preparation of weekly and monthly forecasts
o  Collection and presentation of production key performance indicators
o  Preparation of development layouts
o  Preparation of development layouts
o  Organizing and leading weekly and monthly planning meetings
o  Coordinating ventilation design and planing
o  Coordinating geotechnical evaluations
o  Performing value engineering options studies
o  Preparing operating cost models
•   Assist with the training and development of subordinates within the department;
•   Assist in ensuring that blasting in the mine is done in accordance to set standards
•   Monitor compliance to plans and standards;
•   Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor

Qualification Required & Experience

•   The position requires experience, understanding and competency in the design and engineering of underground mining techniques including: open raise; Alimak raise; track development with jackleg, trackless development with jackleg; declines and inclines; and shrinkage stoping
•   Degree in Mining Engineering with at least five (5) years of technical experience in underground operations;
•   Proficient in the use of mine design and scheduling software Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Geovia software suite - Surpac and Minesched
•   Excellent communication and people management skills;
•   Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving Licence
