ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

POSITION: Senior Resource Geologist
DEPARTMENT: Geology
LOCATION: Iduapriem Mine, Tarkwa
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Permanent

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

•To provide geological mineral resource modelling & estimation support, to the MRM department and work directly with the database and mapping teams to ensure quality data is captured and used for geological modelling

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Undertake all geological modelling work and data analysis as required including but not limited to – Lithology and structural models, material type models – oxide, transitional, sulphide, geotechnical modelling, metallurgical recovery models.
•Advise mining operation, Grade Control and Geotech staff on modelling related issues, train and mentor young mine production staff in grade control, 3D data analysis, geological modelling, resource modelling, reconciliation programs and practices.
•Coordinate drilling program, data validation, QAQC, mapping and Sampling/Assay Protocols, to ensure robust Resource /GC models Quality management.
•Provide and recommend updates or changes to the Resource modelling processes to improve quality and efficiency and to ensure any modifications are consistently implemented and documented.
•Monitor regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates and public reporting (JORC 2012, NI 43-101, SAMREC, etc.).
•Review LOM plans relative to Resource models and determine risk/opportunity in the plan.
•Build the capabilities of direct reports to enhance the section’s ability to achieve financial and operating strategy.
•Performs any other jobs in alignment with the role, as assigned by the Chief Resource Geologist
•Assist in the evaluation of Mine-Mill reconciliation cycle and report on the discrepancies between Resource and Grade Control Models.
•Work closely with the relevant technical team (such as Exploration, Production Geology, Mine etc.) for the efficient development of Resource and profitable extraction.

Qualification Required & Experience

•Bachelors’ degree in Geology/Geological Engineering / Earth Science or related discipline from a reputable institution.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

•Minimum of three (3) years post working experience in a related field within the mining industry.
•Sound understanding of Geostatistics and QAQC
•Good organizational and presentation skills
•Basic understanding and ability to edit macro/scripting in Datamine.
•Experience in database management and field mapping operations
•Must have good knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
•Must possess valid Ghanaian Driving Licence to operate Light Vehicle.

Legal Requirements:

•Mincom Statutory Certification for Geologist or eligible to be certified.
