Job Summary

DIMENSIONS
Direct supervisory responsibilities for Site warehousing activities which includes Supervisors and their direct reports

PURPOSE:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operational performance of the warehouse by ensuring the movement of materials and supplies at Site are received, issued, stored and accounted for in a safe, timely and consistent manner that ensures compliance with Newmont Standards and established Regional policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

•  Develop effective day-to-day management of the warehouse and Site supply team through strategic and tactical planning consistent with Site Operational needs and SCM functional and Corporate requirements.
•  Control, plan and organize warehouse.
•  Foster open and supportive relationships throughout the internal customer network to drive the value and service proposition to superior performance levels
•  Manage processes in the warehouse environment over: stock audit, staff levels, skills & qualifications, space utilization, materials handling methods & equipment utilization, security, financial and budgetary requirements and expenditure
•  Drive cultural change and focus on solving problems to root causes and systematically apply fixes designed with an overall focus to reduced risk, improve customer service levels, optimise inventory levels, enhance efficiencies and inventory availability
•  Discuss SCM performance issues in relation to customer service deliverables with relevant stakeholders through communication and engagement plans with a view to continuous improvement.
•  Accountable for the quality of work output from Site supply activities through an ongoing monitoring and audit process
•  Establish relationships with key maintenance and end-user groups in an effort to understand their work areas and requirements, improve planning and forecasting outlooks
•  Manage and develop staff and employees, including staff training and staff performance reviews and setting goals and objectives for other
•  Develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill enhancement through coaching. Mentoring, technical assistance and support through on-the-job training
•  Develop and implement internal self assessment audit techniques based on a control and compliance model for internal and external auditors.
•  Demonstrate and promote best practice Safety and Environmental behaviors and standards through maintaining a safe system of work and a safe workplace for all site Supply based employees
•  Successfully adherence and achievements of Business Objectives and Key Performance Indicators as displayed in Position Expectations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:   

•  Collaboration and interaction is expected across the regional supply chain organizations as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont.The position is located at Akyem, Ghana.
•  Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.

Qualification Required & Experience

Essential:

•  Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory level role in the Warehousing / Supply Chain / Materials Management in a mining environment
•  Knowledge of mining equipment parts and materials
•  Focus and directs team action towards achievement of business goals and objectives
•  Ability to coach, mentor, develop and performance manage direct reports.
•  Ability to think strategically and implement planning methods to achieve outcomes.
•  Well developed relationship development skills to successfully engage with customers.
•  Maintain and develop Safety Standards whilst actively participating and driving Risk Reduction.

Preferred:

•  Recognised qualifications in warehousing, inventory, materials management or equivalent.
•  Minimum 7 years experience in an Inventory / Warehousing role preferably in mining and resources
•  Experience or Exposure in Warehouse Management & Design methodologies

Personal Attributes and Skills required:

•  Strong communication, organisation and personnel skills, strong analytical capabilities, sound business sense, advanced documentation skills with high attention to detail.
•  Advanced PC skills and computer literacy with respect to MS Office Sound knowledge of Materials Management system i.e. SAP, Ellipse (MIMS) ERP or similar system
•  Ability to understand, maintain and develop established policies and procedures within the workplace.
•  High attention to detail and solution minded
