Job Summary:

•Perform all activities related to maintaining a successful database environment which includes but not limited to Designing, Implementing, Securing the database systems in the enterprise.

Job Role

•Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage.
•Plan and implement backup and recovery of the database.
•Daily Monitoring of backup and recovery tasks.
•Performing maintenance of disk groups, tablespaces and datafiles.
•Establish and maintain database user accounts.
•Implements and enforces security for all Databases.
•Database performance optimization, troubleshooting and fine tuning.
•Run daily database health checks.
•Participates in upgrades and expansions for Databases.
•Planning how much disk storage will be required and monitoring available disk space.
•Document and archive completed projects/tasks, knowledge share, etc in an efficient manner.
•Perform related duties assigned by line manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

Education

•Minimum of a First Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology
•Database Certifications
•ITIL and other software and system certification
•COBIT5: Business Framework for the Governance and Management of Enterprise IT
•Agile working knowledge and related certifications.

Experience

•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technology industry.

Knowledge

•Good knowledge in Database Administration (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc)
•Expert in SQL (Structured Query Language) scripting
•Good knowledge in Database replication (eg Data Guard, Golden Gate)
•Knowledge of database security
•Good knowledge in NFS and clustered storage solutions
•Knowledge in UNIX/LINUX System Administration
•Knowledge in shell scripting
•Knowledge of Capacity planning
•Oracle Certified Associate/Professional (OCA/OCP)
•Real Application Cluster (RAC)
•Grid Infrastructure Administration
•Golden Gate Certified Implementation
•MySQL 5.7 Database Administration
•MongoDB Database Administration
•Cassandra Database Administration
•Data Guard Implementation
•Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
•Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDB)
