Job Summary

Department: Finance
Section: Supply

Reports to: Stores Controller

Principal Function:
Establish direction, control and standards within the Store section to ensure the efficient and timely ordering and storage of stock items and direct orders to end-users and Departments

Position Outcomes
Achieving results:

•  Policies and procedures followed
•  Usage of goods and equipment monitored
•  Required stock levels maintained
•  Warehouse control reports submitted
•  Stock re-order report actioned and submitted
•  Stock items available when required by end-users
•  Warehouse stock-takes carried out when required
•  Daily transaction list maintained
•  Monitor data input in JDE system
•  Stock count discrepancy reports completed
•  Slow moving stock reports submitted
•  Minimum and maximum stock levels monitored and action implemented to address discrepancies/usage/shortage
•  Monitor delivery lead-time for stock orders
•  Stock codes assigned to new items
•  Plan store layout and bin location for stock items allocated
•  Plan and coordinate daily store activities (receiving/despatch/issues and stock-take)
•  Monitor fuel and reagent stocks on a regular base

Managing resources:

•  Monitor equipment condition and take appropriate action
•  Warehouse efficiencies and layout reviewed

Servicing other departments:

•  Supply procedures and policies monitor and action taken
•  Interface requirements with planned maintenance monitored

Contributing to improvement:

•  Recommend changes to screen layouts
•  Computer equipment replacement and upgrade reports prepared

Customer Care, Repair Orders & Administration:

•  Identifies problems encountered in business units by ad hoc visits
•  Addresses problems when possible or reports to Supervisor.

Health and Safety:

•  Applicants must have completed a hazard awareness training course, and should be able to demonstrate their capability to identify potentially hazardous issues.
•  Comply with prescribed health and safety measures.

Qualification Required & Experience

Knowledge and Skills
Job Requirements

•  Conversant with materials inventory objectives and disciplines
•  Computer literate
•  Knowledge of database systems and database procedures
•  Experience in planning, organising and scheduling
•  Operated at supervisory level when required
•  Experience in Mainpac is an advantage but not essential
•  Knowledge about ware-housing and material control

Personal Requirements:

•  Keen attention to detail
•  Demonstrate a willingness to accept change
•  Carry out duties competently and diligently
•  Able to work unsupervised

Minimum Job Requirements
Education and Qualifications:

•  Degree in Supply Chain Management or Mechanical, Electrical, Auto Mechanical/Electrical
•  Higher National Diploma in Procurement & Stores Management/ Logistics or Mechanical, Electrical, Auto Mechanical/Electrical

Experience and Training:

•  Code IS Drivers licence.
•  3+ years’ experience as a Stores Supervisor / Inventory Officer or
•  5+ years’ experience as a Senior Storeman in a Mining or Manufacturing Company
•  Experience/knowledge in any Maintenance & Purchasing Systems will be an added advantage
