Central University, a Chartered Christian University invites applications from qualified persons to occupy the position of: Strategy and Business Development Officer

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor the Strategist and Business Development Officer supports and leads a variety of strategic efforts and helps build annual/long-term strategic plans. The person will be responsible for follow-up and updating the Vice Chancellor on the implementation of specific milestones of the University's strategic agenda, as well as leading the period of three years (3) subject to renewal. Applicant must not be above the age of 45 years

The role demands a strong strategic and analytical orientation coupled with exceptional communication skills as well as highly developed collaborative nature.

Key Responsibilities

• The strategy and Business Development Officer will assis the Vice Chancellor to track and identify various strategies in the implementation of the University's strategic plans
• Identifies implementation bottlenecks in the various planned milestones and inform appropriate authorities for redress
• Plays key role in the various phases of strategy implementation, collaborates with external and internal stakeholders and leads cross functional teams in evaluating effectiveness/accomplishment of business wide strategies
• Designs road-mapping and creates tracking (organisational dashboard) system of quarterly reporting to the Vice Chancellor
• Works collaboratively with the Vice chancellor to simplify the University's strategy to be understood by key stakeholders as well as Central University employees
• Ensures that well-crafted metrics are in place to measure performance, impact and progress towards strategic goals

Key Responsibilities (Business Development)

• Coordinates with Management to research, identify, analyse and execute new business initiatives
• Collects and synthesises market and stakeholder requirements and business data and carries out necessary surveys and evaluations
• Makes relevant inputs for the work of various project teams to achieve business goals
• Implements business relationships and partnerships through direct meetings with relevant stakeholders
• Works with internal departments and external partners to identify various business projects
• Crafts business development strategies to increase the University's revenue and brand value

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicant seeking appointment must have

• A Master's Degree in any business area, industrial management, strategy, finance, economics or related business discipline
• The candidate must have at least 5 years working experience in strategic management and business development
• The person must show ability to obtain needed information, data and be able to identify relevant issues needed to achieve long-term strategic goals and engage the business unit managers to commit to the realised course of action for purposes of accomplishing those goals
• Strong conceptual, problem-solving and analytical/data analysis skills
• Project planning, management and change management skills
