Job Summary

Project Summary:
IPA Ghana seeks a survey team to work on the “Enhancing the Productive Assets of Micro Entrepreneurs” (EPAME) project. EPAME is a project that examines the economic and social impact of a hybrid savings-loan product for micro entrepreneurs in developing countries.  The project examines whether marketing an untied savings-loan product with no restrictions on how capital from savings deposits and loan proceeds is invested, or a tied savings-loan product in which capital investment is dedicated ex ante to a specific firm asset leads to better productivity and growth outcomes for micro enterprises.  The EPAME project is undertaken in collaboration with Financial Republic (FR); a local micro-finance organization.

Team Leader:
Team Leaders will oversee survey fieldwork. This will involve managing a team of Surveyors, overseeing field finances, supervising daily survey activities, survey monitoring and writing daily field reports to the Project Manager. Team Leaders will also maintain records; including survey tracking, surveyor attendance and project expenses. Team Leaders are responsible for maintaining high quality data collection and will report to the Project Manager.

In particular, the Team Leader will;

•   Supervise all the Surveyors at a field station, manage their work, and ensure that they are all following IPA survey protocols.
•   Distribute per diems to Surveyors each morning, collect receipts and reconcile the funds to the field manager.
•   Distribute respondent gifts to Surveyors each morning.
•   Verify that Surveyors have interviewed the right respondent.
•   Track expenditures, back checking and editing activities of each team using tracking forms accurately and consistently, and give daily updates to the Project Manager and Project Associate.
•   Do frequent and random spot checking in the field in order to monitor Surveyors.
•   Report consistent problems to the Field Manager and Project Managers.
•   Promptly respond to contact from the IPA Project Manager, Field Manager, or other IPA staff.
•   Be responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner organizations and project participants.
•   Show respect for the facilities of IPA and its partners, in particular their office and any equipment, and conform to their standards of conduct while working at their facilities and with their employees.
•   Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.

Surveyor and Auditor:
Surveyors and Auditors will be responsible for data collection. In Particular Surveyors and Auditors will;

•   Administer interviews to research participants chosen by the IPA Project Managers, or as directed by them;
•   Adhere to all IPA survey protocols;
•   Contact the IPA Team Leader at any time with questions or concerns;
•   Promptly respond to contact from the IPA Project Managers, Field Managers, Team Leaders, or other IPA staff.
•   Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.

Editor:
Editors will be responsible for editing surveys. In particular the Editor will;

•   Edit the completed survey instruments as assigned by IPA;
•   Ensure that collected data is of the highest quality;
•   Contact the IPA Team Leader at any time with questions;
•   Promptly respond to contact from the IPA Project Manager, Field Manager, Team Leader, or other IPA staff.
•   Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Economics, marketing, or any related field
•   Good computer skills
•   Good communication and interpersonal skills
•   Willingness to walk/travel
•   Fluency in any of the local languages (Twi, Ga, Ewe) is preferred
•   Experience in a similar position is preferred
