The University of Ghana hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified staff of the University of Ghana for appointment as Systems Analysts in the Information Technology Directorate.
POSITION: Systems Analysts
REPORTING TO: Head, IT Services Engineering/Head, End User Support
JOB ROLE
• The Systems Analyst will provide support to the Heads of IT Services Engineering and End User Support Units.
• The Systems Analyst will work in key areas within the University’s ERP and student and staff services and any others areas assigned by the Head of Unit in consultation with the Deputy Director of IT Services Division.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Data Management:
• Identify gaps in data, risk areas and opportunity for enhancement of the Oracle database
• Automate data processing by developing oracle procedures
• Bulk processing of large data such as re-sit registration, residential allocations and UGRC registrations
2. Ensuring data integrity and quality standards:
• Ensuring data validation and integrity using automated response by developing Oracle triggers.
3. Technical Support for Directorates, Departments and Colleges:
• Collaborate with various directorates and units for data processing and report generation for various operations such as accreditations, graduating student awards, student financial aid, students financial accounts records,
student course registrations for examinations and College reports on students’ registrations.
4. Enterprise System Management:
• Assist in updating student records on the University of Ghana enterprise system, aligning with the requirement to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
5. Collaboration with the Business Intelligence Team:
• Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team by writing various Oracle scripts for data extraction and reports from databases, demonstrating collaboration in data-related activities essential for monitoring and evaluation and analysis.
6. Database Design and Implementation:
• Designing and implementing database and online systems to support academic activities.
7. Training and Capacity Building:
• Support training of staff on the use of the University's enterprise system aligning with the broader responsibility of understanding and implementing University policies related to research.
Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants must have:
• A good first degree in Computer Engineering/Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or other relevant area.
• A master’s degree in Information Studies, Information Technology or a business analysis course-based programme.
• A minimum of ten (10) years relevant post qualification working experience,
• A minimum of eight (8) years experience in data validation and integrity using automated processes.
Technical Expertise:
• Experience with working with Oracle database and any other database such as MySQL.
• Ability to communicate concepts and processes clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
• Experience in working with Business Intelligence tools and Oracle scripts and support for student records and registration support.
• Upholding high ethical and moral standards.
• Coordinating and working with teams.
Applicants must have served a minimum of two years in a Senior Staff role at the University of Ghana, and must be able to serve a minimum of 4 years in the role before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
