Job Description

• Organize and implement teacher support programming in conjunction with the Teacher Support Team, Country Director and GES
• Conduct scheduled bi-monthly visits at assigned PoP schools in the teacher support program
• Coach and provide feedback to teachers, incorporating strategies and methods shared during workshops as well as general knowledge, follow assigned rubric for best performance
• Create, develop and present materials for teacher support workshops (with support from Programs Manager and Impact Training Specialist)
• Facilitate Teacher Support workshops where necessary
• Participate in E-Reader distributions/pick-ups
• Update and repair broken or malfunctioning E-Readers
• Check, charge and download content to all E-Readers each term
• Manage E-Readers in all of your assigned PoP schools
• Ensure that all students (eligible) have an E-Reader, check-in with contact person regularly, provide additional training if necessary
• Complete and share collected E-Reader data with Intern and any other assigned E-Reader contact persons
• Support parents and community leaders to maximize the use of the E-reader at home
• Update Salesforce regularly with the support of Teacher Support Team and Programs Manager
• Meet with assigned Coordinator bi-monthly to discuss successes and challenges
• Assist with the distribution and use of PoP’s literacy materials and other learning resources
• Stay up to date on best practices in the fields of education, teacher training, and technology
• Contribute to the management and carrying out of PoP Ghana’s literacy innovations in selected schools

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology or related field
• A professional teacher or experience teaching basic reading skills
• Very good knowledge of the Education system in Ghana
• At least 1 year experience in training and capacity building, especially on participatory methods of teaching at the basic school level
• Strong knowledge of diverse teaching methodologies and technologies or a willingness to learn
• Strong ICT use and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with tablet and E-Reading devices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the internet
• Self-motivated, ability to take initiative, and manage his/her own workload
• Strong problem solving skills
• Comfortable working in both urban and rural setting
• Community mobilization and engagement skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Willing to work with children
• Passion for Pencils of Promise Mission
• Ability to ride a motorcycle is an advantage
