Position Summary

We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Team Leader to work on an upcoming programme which looks to address the major issues facing adolescent reproductive health, with a specific regional focus on the Brong Ahafo area, Ghana. The team leader will need to demonstrate ability to fulfill the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

•   Provide senior leadership, management oversight, and coordination for a complex programme
•   Provide senior-level content knowledge, technical assistance, consultation, and support for the development, execution, and monitoring of programme-specific strategies.
•   Manage technical and operational staff and coordinate with implementing partners.
•   Liaise with donors, the government, and other key stakeholders.
•   Lead, reviews, and monitor programmatic functions, e.g., development of work plans and budgets.
•   Ensure quality of services and compliance per donor and programme requirements
•   Participate in development of and/or prepares necessary programme-related reports, presentations, and deliverables.

Qualification Required & Experience

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated:

•   At least 15 years of experience of leading large-scale government or DFID, European Union, USAID, KfW, World Bank, and other development partner supported health programmes in/ for developing countries, preferably Ghana.
•   Technical expertise in public health, especially family planning, reproductive and maternal health, gender issues, the needs of the poor, and social determinants of health.
•   Deep understanding of health market dynamics and the health system in Ghana and ability to draw on other regional and/or international best practices.
•   Outstanding advocacy skills
•   Practical experience in training midwives or other health workers for key skillsets in the family planning focus area
•   Working knowledge of developing national family planning programmes
•   Evidence or ability to work closely with local and national government structures
•   Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders, including project partners, donors, private sector, NGOs, and government departments.
•   Ability to smoothly coordinate with donor agency.
•   Strong results orientation and commitment to accountability and value for money.
•   Strong personal qualities, including integrity, commitment to excellence, equality, openness, inclusiveness, and collegiality.
•   Established position and reputation among peer groups, colleagues, and organizations working in similar fields.
•   Excellent written and spoken English is a must; local languages are an advantage.
•   Advanced degree in relevant discipline preferred.
