Project Brief

•The global project “Mobilize Net Zero 2” supports political partners in various countries in the decarbonisation of transport.
•The Ghana component of the global project will work with partners such as Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Energy.

Scope of Role:

•The technical advisor will be part of a global project focusing on climate action in transport and will be responsible for technical and organisational implementation of project activities within Ghana, in cooperation with colleagues in headquarters.
•This includes technical, strategic and process advice to political partners, regulatory agencies, implementation partners, transport stakeholders and the private actors. The technical advisor provides specialised knowledge on climate actions in the transport sector.

Tasks:

•Advise political partners as well as transport agencies and sector stakeholders on the development, implementation and monitoring of climate policies and measures for the transport sector
•Support political partners and the private sector to mobilise finance for scaling up climate action
•Develop knowledge products and training formats to contribute to capacity development of political partners and other stakeholders
•Manage services tendered out to external consultants and control their quality
•Prepare, facilitate and document events in different contexts (trainings, conferences, consultations, study tours)
•Ensure alignment and leverage synergy through knowledge exchange with other GIZ projects in related areas.
•Support strategic, financial and operational planning, monitoring and reporting
•Perform other tasks at the request of management related to the successful implementation of the project

Qualification required & Experience

• Master’s degree in a course related to transport, energy, environment or economics
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the transport, automotive, green technology sectors or related sectors, with strong advisory and project implementation component
• Proven experience working with ministries and government agencies in Ghana or other African countries
• Proven experience in technical advisory services and project management, preferably in emerging economies or development cooperation contexts
• Strong technical background in the field of electric mobility, EV infrastructure, data collection, climate strategies in transport and relevant international standards, networks and policies
• Profound knowledge of the Ghanaian transport and climate change policy framework, institutional landscape, relevant implementation structures and stakeholders
