Job Vacancy For Technical Officer (Vector Control)



Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical input into the planning and implementation of vector control interventions (ITN distribution, IRS and larval source management), under the supervision of the Medical Entornologist
• Support the design and review of vector control strategies in line with the National Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan (NMESP).
• Coordinate and monitor insecticide resistance surveillance and entomotogical monitoring activities and report findings to the Medical Entomologist
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to regional and district vector control teams as directed
• Analyse entomological and programmatic data to inform decision-making
• Support the development of technical guidelines, training and supportive supervision
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, work plans and donor reports for review by the Medical Entomolgists
• Represent NMEP at relevant technical meetings, workshops and conferences, and perform any other official duties as assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Entomology, Environmental Science, Public Health or a related field, A Master's degree in a related field is an advantage
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in vector control, entomology or malaria/vector-borne disease programmes
• Experience with data analysis software (e.g. Excel, SPSS, R) is an advantage

Competencies

• Sound knowledge of malaria vector control interventions and resistance management
• Strong technical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and sound judgement
• Good leadership, capacity-building and training skills
• Effective communication, report-writing, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to travel to regions and districts for supervision and field activities
