OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

•The Technician, Electrical - Process Plant reports to the Supervisor, Electrical – Process Plant and is accountable for executing all types of plant electrical maintenance as required and tasked, covering day/night shift plus reliever in a safe and compliant manner during refurbishment and later maintenance of the underground infrastructure.
•The role is required to execute work in accordance with detailed tasking and in line with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Work compliantly with the requirements of Government of Ghana agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGAG regulation.
•Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by the work.
•Comply with AGAG environmental management, compliance and other legal requirements.
•Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
•Comply with and follow operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned work.
•Correct or report to the Supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions, and make suggestions to improve environmental management.
•Follow established procedures if an incident occurs by reporting to the Supervisor.
•Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan.
•Interface with contractors and construction teams as directed regarding electrical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works supporting the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
•Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.
•Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked, in compliance with all relevant Government of Ghana and AGAG regulations.
•Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment and tools prior to leaving the workshop and escalate and report any anomalies.
•Assess all equipment required for completion of tasked work, create checklists and transport all tools necessary for task completion.
•Recognise machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies indicating maintenance requirements, and report and escalate them.
•Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
•Carry out work cost effectively.
•Execute work in a timely manner.
•Operate all equipment within the safe working envelope and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
•Report and escalate issues directly to the Electrical Supervisor – Process Plant as recognised.
•Stop equipment operation if there is a high risk or if it is unsafe to use.

Qualification Required & Experience

•Secondary education level.
•Certificate of successful completion of a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship such as City and Guilds.
•Electrical certificate.

Experience

•Five years of post-apprenticeship work experience in an electrical trade in an industrial environment.

Knowledge & Skills

•Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining Health, Safety and Technical Regulation.
•Fully literate and numerate.
•Fully competent in the electrical trade.
•Consistent with the company values.
