The Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGC) was incorporated as a limited liability company and registered in the Republic of Ghana under the Ghana Companies Code 1963, in July 2011. The vision of the company is to become a fully integrated gas business firm with strong reputation as a trusted partner and reliable supplier of natural gas resources in the country.

The company has the responsibility to build, own and operate infrastructure required for the gathering, processing, transporting and marketing of natural gas resources in the country.

Description Of Job

Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) has the mandate to build, own and operate the infrastructure forgathering, processing and delivering natural gas to industry in safe, cost effective, responsible and reliable manner.

We are currently seeking suitably qualified technicians to join us as trainee operators to our Gas Processing Plant, Pipeline System, CALM Buoy Mooring System, Tank Farm and an Iso-Pentane Combustion Power Plant to be based in the Western Region. The training programme will last up to 18 months and will include classroom training, workshops and practical hands-on training.

Trainees will be offered stipend to cover accommodation, food and transport.

On completion of the training programme, successful trainees will be given the opportunity to apply for permanent roles within Ghana Gas or Gas Operators Controllers, Schedulers, Volumetric Analysts and Technicians.

Basic Function:
The Plant Operators will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of natural gas plant, compressors and pipeline systems via both Computer Control Centre and Onsite Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Operate natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including, but not limited to: amine treating plants, chilled water gas conditioning skids, reciprocating natural gas compressors, TEG dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc
2.  Operate plant equipment & systems
•  Start-up/Shutdown of plant equipment
•  Adjust controls to operate equipment in the recommended or prescribed operating ranges
•  De-pressure equipment and pipelines
•  Operate valves
•  Monitor plant and pipeline operations and respond to emergency or upset conditions
•  Operate under Process Safety Management (PSM) as required
•  Monitor gas gathering system through SCADA and make calls to alert customers of situations that could affect gas deliveries
•  Ensure regulatory compliance and record keeping requirements are met and continually monitored
•  Read, monitor and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operations, fuel consumed, water levels, etc
•  Perform minor maintenance on equipment including, but not limited to: reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, etc
•  Monitor, remove and replace filters, oil, chemicals, other lubricating fluids, gaskets, and valves as needed
•  Change gauges
•  Change out suction/discharge valves on natural gas compressors, light bulbs, and fuses
•  Work a rotating schedule of 3 shifts of 8 hour over every 24 hours

Qualification Required & Experience

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

•  A minimum of a Higher National Diploma or equivalent is required
•  Technical certification or equivalent training is an engineering subject or energy related field is preferred
•  Ability to read various types of drawings and schematic presentations
•  A valid driving license with acceptable driving record will be an advantage
