Summary of Main Tasks and Responsibilities
• The person will be responsible for underwriting insurance policies & marketing and advise the branch head accordingly
Job Description
• Correspond with clients, brokers and agents to gather required underwriting information
• Evaluate insurance applications and determine appropriate price, term and conditions.
• Process insurance applications in a timeous and accurate manner
• Ensure that the underwriting process is compliant with industry and technical directives
• Maintain accurate records to policies issued together with supporting documents
Qualification Required & Experience
The person must have the following:
• A university degree in any field
• At least 3 years of work experience in underwriting
The Person
• Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Must possess high analytical skills
• Must be very articulate, with good presentation skills
• Must have very good business sense
• Must demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and drive
• Must be proactive and ready to work in a team environment
• Must demonstrate an appreciable knowledge of insurance
• Must demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
• Must have appreciable knowledge in Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word & Powerpoint)
• Excellent sales and marketing drive
• Ability to work with little or no supervision
• Must demonstrate a high level of commercial and financial awareness
