THE POSITION

•   The University Librarian is the administrative head of all the University Libraries.
•   He/she shall provide professional/administrative leadership for the University of Education, Winneba Library Systems which includes the Osagyefo Library and its Satellite libraries

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration and coordination of all library services in the University and its Campuses, Colleges, Departments, Centres and Research Units.

In addition, such candidate will:

•   manage employees, products, services and goals of the expanding library of the University;
•   design and implement an overall strategic plan for the development of the University library;
•   build on existing resources, and services to create a modern library which would respond to teaching, research and learning programmes of the University;
•   recommend and implement systems that would create a seamlessless extension of the library that provides scholars with access to evaluated, organized and preserved information in any format;
•   supervise the smooth transition of old products and serviced to new ones
•   create effective cross-departmental working relationships and
•   assist both in-house and outside scholars with world class library

Qualification Required & Experience

The candidate seeking appointment as University Librarian must possess a minimum of Masters degree in Library/Information Studies. In addition,

the candidate must:

•   have served as a Deputy Librarian for a minimum of five (5) years in a university or a comparable institution.
•   have at least five (5) publications since appointment as Deputy Librarian
•   have strong knowledge of Library management and evidence of ability to create and lead an academic library.
•   have strong knowledge of library practices from traditional management system to modern portal library
•   have solid skills in library related IT infrastructure and systems
