A public service organization in the film sector in Ghana officially invites applications from qualified persons to fill the under-listed vacancy as Video Editor

OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

• Editing and assembling recorded filer raw materials, applying artistic editing techniques and creating finished and suitable broadcast-worthy projects. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Edit film pieces for a desired outcome
• Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications
• Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes value and contribution to continuity
• Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
• Input music, dialogues graphics and effects
• Create rough and final cuts
• Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
• Consult with stakeholders from production to post production process
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry s best practices to maximize efficiency
• Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software and ensure each was updated in the coned formal
• Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
• Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video’s creation
• Improve video and sound quality using various video software
• Works closely with the production team to prepare and break down scripts for the purpose of scheduling. budgeting and having a detailed logistical plan for shoot
• Help to schedule all moving parts that make up a film/television production

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of First Degree in Cinematography or related discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent professional qualification
• Must have completed National Service

SKILLS-MIX AND COMPETENCIES

• Proven work experience as a Video Editor
• Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere After Effects and Final Cut)
• Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
• Familiarity with special effects,motion graphics, 3D and compositing
• Creative mind and storytelling skills
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work toward several milestones on various protects simultaneously
• Ability to understand the desired outcome of a protect and the ability to bring them to life
