Job Vacancy For Web Assistant At Millennium Development Authority (MiDA)



The Government of Ghana was declared eligible for a poverty reduction grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation ("MCC"), a United States Government Agency. In connection therewith, the Government submitted Concept Papers to MCC, and after a successful outcome of due diligence, and the availability of funds, has resulted in a Compact between the Government and MCC pursuant to which MCC would provide a five-year, multimiHion dollar poverty reduction grant to the Government of Ghana (a "Compact"). The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) will be responsible for the management of the implementation of the Compact. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Compact, related agreements, and the availability of funds, the Government intends to use a portion of the funds provided through the Compact to procure professional personnel in MiDA to assist the Government with the management and implementation of the Compact programme in a transparent, timely, effective, efficient, results-oriented and fiscally sound manner.

Reports to: Communications and Outreach Director

Roles and Responsibilities:

•   Coordinate web-content development and management requirements
•   Maintain an electronic document database for managing web site content. Coordinate the posting of web presentations of major events and other publications.
•   Monitor the posting of documents, hyperlinks, and graphics on the web, and advises content providers of their uploaded materials.
•   Conceptualize and prepare, including the creative graphic composition, layout presentation, and video-editing of, various web content.
•   Prepare and update MiDA's web posting guidelines, e-mail newsletter content and design guidelines and pnnt resources guide on web content development and design.
•   Write and prepare media evaluation reports
•   Assist in preparing web team reports.
•   Assist in responding to queries received from web site visitors.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree in Communication Arts, Journalism, or related discipline.
•   Approximately five (5) or more years' experience in the field of development communications or journalism
•   Experience in working closely with a team of web developers, computer specialists, multimedia designers and technicians
•   Editorial experience and good understanding of how to effectively present a wide variety of information for web-based publication.
•   Ability to use graphic designs, desktop publishing and multimedia development software such as Photoshop, Acrobat, and PageMaker will be a strong asset.
•   Ability to use HTML editors.
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages
