Job Vacancy For General Manager Legal and Human Resources



A leading Oil and Gas company is seeking suitably qualified, goal-oriented and result-driven individual with exceptional qualities for appointment to the following position: General Manager Legal and Human Resources

Job Objective

• To lead the development and implementation of strategic and operational legal frameworks, provide expert advice, counsel and recommendations and direction on legal function and the development and execution of the human resource strategy in support of the overall business

Duties and Responsibilities will comprise

• Co-ordinate, lead, manage and supervise the functions and operations of the legal and human resource department
• Take ownership and confidently lead complex legal and human resources negotiations on behalf of the company
• Ensure good legal practice and regulatory compliance by providing and sound legal advice to the Executive and to the Human Resources department on employment related issues
• Prepare and negotiate various operational and contractual agreements
• Ensure the corporation complies with the oil and gas industry's legal and regulatory compliance framework in its operations
• Oversee any litigation proceedings, corporate entity maintenance and other matters in conjunction with the corporation's external lawyers
• Develop the organisational human resources strategy in compliance with the corporation's overall strategy
• Design the corporation's human resources department structure, positions and systems in compliance to its strategic mandate
• Manage executive compensation and employment equity incentive programmes
• Coordinate negotiations with labour unions and senior staff association and manage the administration of collective bargaining agreements and senior staff conditions of service

Qualification Required & Experience

• LLB degree (mandatory), Barrister at Law (mandatory), member in good standing with the Ghana bar association (mandatory), Master's degree in Law (Oil and Gas/Energy field) or Human resource/Labour management in a related field (a plus)

Minimum Experience

• 15 years of legal practice, at least 5 years of which should be in corporate practice. Good knowledge of oil and gas and energy market
• Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices.
• In-depth knowledge of labour laws and labour related issues in Ghana
• Must be currently working in a similar role within the public sector
