Plan Ghana, an International child-centered community development organization is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented person to fill the position of Grants Accountant

Job Title: Grants Accountant

Job Summary

•   Participates in the preparation of the Country Budget and its subsequent modifications to ensure it is in line with the rolling budget
•   Maintains a budgetary control system to monitor Grant Budget vs. Expenditure, and advises management on variances and corrective actions required to be taken
•   Reviews and makes recommendations to Business Development Manager on grants-related Project Outlines (Pos) for decision making
•   Prepares regular cash flow forecasts / funding requirements for specific grants to ensure availability of cash for grants funded protects / programs
•   Monitors funding requirements for donor-specific bank accounts and liaises with the Country Finance Manager and Business Development Manager to ensure availability of adequate funds to meet forecast expenditure requirements
•   Develops a system to regularly reconcile funds receipts and expenditures on donor-specific bank accounts to ensure compliance with donor requirements
•   Ensure the accuracy of Grants related financial transactions that are entered In to the General ledger (GL)
•   Prepares and updates financial reporting matrix for grants to support accurate and timely reporting
•   Ensures that grant financial reports are timely and accurately prepared in the required formats as per donor contracts and Grant Agreement Documents (GADs)
•   Provides quarterly, year-end and other grants financial reports and analyses as per required instructions for management decision making
•   Prepares and updates matrix of grant-required audits to advise pending audits
•   Supports the Business Development Manager and the Program Support Manager ( Operations) on the preparation, conducts and finalization of grant-required audits
•   All required Information prior to the arrival of Grant Auditors is made available
•   Ensures cost recovery procedures are applied to all grants in line with the cost recovery policy
•   Prepare audit action lists for grant audits and follows up on its implementation. Presents regular updates on grant audit action list
•   Responds to grants financial queries in liaison with the Finance and Business Development Managers
•   Trains and coaches partner finance staff in delivery of job requirements to support grants compliance
•   Ensures partner liquidations and financial reports are properly reviewed before further funds are advanced
•   Ensures compliance with best practices and donor specific requirements by Partners/Sub-grantees
•   Fulfills Plan's Child Protection Policy at all times to protect children from all forms of abuse

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum of Degree in accounting and ICA Ghana part 2 or ACCA foundation level 2 or equivalent
•   At least 4 years experience in similar role
•   Fair knowledge in grants and project management

Physical Environment and Demands:

May be "Typical office environment". note if heavy lifting, climbing, excess travel, etc.

Travel requirements

This position entails 30% traveling within program areas

Level of contact with children:

Low contact: No contact or very low frequency of interaction. The job responsibilities of this position does not require the post holder to have any one-to-one contact with children on a daily basis. There would be occasional contact with children and it is expected that children shall be protected at all times.
