Job Vacancy For Head of Finance



The ideal candidate will be responsible for documentation of all financial transaction and prepare prudential returns and management accounting reports to management and outside financial information users in line with the company’s strategic policy. He/She shall report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

•   Report to the CEO on all issues on financial management within the company.
•   Establish budgetary control systems and procedures for ensuring adherence to set limits.
•   Responsible for the timely preparation of management and audited financial reports as well as other statutory regulatory reports.
•   Ensure the proper classification of accounts for recording income, expenditure, assets, liabilities and off-balance sheet items.
•   Manage the procurement of consumables and assets for the company.
•   Collect and present relevant financial data to help in the formulation of the strategy of the business and monitor progress towards Key Performance Indicators.
•   Partner business in establishing a low, and value for money cost base.
•   Assist business in analysing variance reports and variations from stated strategies.
•   To ensure business monthly reporting is timely and accurate at both product and customer segment levels. This includes the consistent application of the Funds Transfer Pricing and Cost Allocation methodologies.
•   Assist business to undertake the financial analysis of the Business monthly performance
•   Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends opportunities to maximise earnings and minimise risk.
•   Review and monitor the business performance against company policies for Market Risk, Liquidity Management, local regulatory and other statutory requirements.
•   Manage the business cost centres and lead capital asset management systems.
•   Assist in the evaluation of projects which are specific to the business in accordance with company and local guidelines and contribute fully to their implementation.
•   Assist business in preparation of PARs.
•   Ensure that project accounting disciplines and tracking mechanisms (including benefits tracking) are in place for all business projects.
•   To prepare the operational risk reports for the company as required
•   Any other duties that may be assigned from time  to time

Qualification Required & Experience

•   An MBA in Business, or Accounting or Professional Qualification – CIMA, CPA, ACCA or its equivalent plus at least 7 years experience in a middle management position with relevant / specific banking experience
•   Be conversant with Tax Laws, IFRS and other Accounting Standards as well as Base II Accord
•   Be knowledgeable in all regulations relating to financial institutions and banking practices and products.
•   Must have superior levels of judgement and decision making to assess the impact of business activities on performance and identify trends early for effective remedial action.
•   Must have the flair to analyse and report on variances and set targets
•   Strong knowledge in Financial and Management Accounting principles
•   Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
•   Have excellent spreadsheet modelling skills.
•   A team builder with good communication and interpersonal skills
