The Company has launched a five-year Strategic Plan spanning the period 2014-2018, and as part of efforts to realise its strategic goals, MMT Limited is looking for results-oriented, committed and qualified Lawyer to strengthen its Legal Department. Reports to: Legal Manager at Head Office

Job Summary:

Responsible for the effective and efficient provision of Legal Services as well as ensuring effective management of Legal and Contractual risks of the Company in the Northern Sector.

MAIN DUTIES
The holder will assist the Legal Department to:

•   Provide legal representation in court and other fora
•   Give legal opinion on matters referred from the various departments/depots of the Company.
•   Examine legal data to determine advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits or legal rights and obligations
•   Gather evidence to formulate defense or initiate legal actions
•   Liaise with external solicitors of the Company, if any, in handling cases referred to them
•   Review and draft contracts, agreements and in internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with att statutory or legal requirements
•   Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures
•   Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action are taken
•   Initiate the process for developing policies and procedures for the Legal Department
•   Negotiate settlement of cases
•   Advise on the management of risk events, including road crashes
•   Train Company drivers
•   Prepare monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reports on activities of the department HOW TO APPLY

Qualification Required & Experience

•   LLB/BA in Law
•   BL or Qualifying Certificate in Law issued by the Ghana School of Law
•   Must have been called to the Ghana Bar
•   Minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience
•   Age Limit Applicants must not be more than thirty-five (35) years at the time of applying

•   Must have good Legal Research, Advocacy, Negotiation, Drafting and Report Writing Skills
•   Ability to negotiate settlement of civil disputes

•   Must have high moral standards, broadmindedness and exhibit high level of confidentiality and accuracy
•   Very Good interpersonal and human relations skills
•   High sense of responsibility and ability to take initiative
•   Must be able to travel at short notice, work for long hours and meet the strictest deadlines.
