An investment company based in Accra seeks the services of a: Manager, Legal & Compliance

Job Purpose

•   Responsible for managing the operations of the Legal and Compliance of the company and its business entities and ensuring correct level documentation and wording in order to protect the company's interest in all transactions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

•   Supervises the vetting of title documents, draft recitals and engrossing of debentures
•   Review and Draft Agreements and monitor the drafting and review of same
•   Liaise with respective businesses to prepare and review agreements with respect to customers facilities
•   Undertake legal research and analysis; prepare legal opinions, reports and correspondence
•   Liaise with external solicitors on cases referred
•   Recommends the approval of drawdown requests
•   Monitors the update of status of cases against the company and its business entities which have been referred to external solicitors
•   Keep abreast of relevant developments in relation to laws on companies and the money market industry
•   Liaise with Management Credit Committee to provide legal advice as necessary
•   Provide Legal advice on labour related issues, including labour contract negotiations
•   Perform any other task/duties assigned by Group CEO
•   Prepare reports to the respective Business Entity Boards
•   Filing of documents at the Security Exchange Commission, Ghana Stock Brokers and the registrar General Department

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Barrister at Law - essential qualification
•   Minimum of 5 years' experience post qualification
•   Good knowledge in Court rules and procedures
•   Good knowledge and understanding of investment banking, money market and property operations and practice
•   Current with case law particular reference to money markets and labour laws / practices

Managerial

•   Up to date with developments in managing compliance activities in a corporate environment; particularly within the money markets and properties landscape
•   Good knowledge / understanding of investment banking, money market, practices and regulations
•   Ability to work within a Matrix Management Structure

Financial and Administrative

•   Good analytical skills coupled with decision-making ability
•   Ability to analyse business needs as they arise in the fast / dynamic competitive market
•   Ability to devise administrative systems / develop processes
•   Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance and human resource procedures and regulations is a must

Communications / Co-ordination (Internal and External)

•   Ability to communicate excellently at all levels (internally and externally)
•   Presentation skills
•   Ability to maximise use of information technology, especially financial applications

Development / Strategic

•   Good leadership skills with ability to work with minimal direction
•   Tutor / training skills
•   Good negotiation skills
