Keegan Resources (Ghana) Ltd. Is a fully-owned subsidiary of Asanko Gold Inc., a Canadian junior resources company in gold exploration with the aim of developing into the next major gold producer in Ghana and West Africa. The vision of Asanko is to become a mid – tier gold mining company that maximizes value for all stakeholders.

This vision will be achieved over the next 3 -5 years by building a high performance organization with the development and commissioning of its flagship Esaase Gold Project. in Ghana, to a design production capacity of 200000 oz per annum by Q4 2015 and to grow the business to achieve a minimum production rate of 400000 oz per annum by Q1 2018.

Job Summary

Keegan Resources (Ghana) ltd wishes to recruit an experienced Medical Practitioner at its flagship Esaase Gold Project (EGP), which is transitioning through development to steady-state operation. Reporting to the Manager – Safety Health and Environment (SHE), this senior role will require the successful candidate to develop, implement and manage the health service at the EGP site: Much of the work will therefore involve the delivery of primary and occupational health care to EGP employees, contractors and certain dependents.

The Medical Practitioner will be required to work with the EGP Advanced Life Support Paramedic to ensure a fully integrated emergency medical response function at the EGP. There will also be a requirement for the Medical Practitioner to assist the EGP in facilitating the optimum functioning of community and public health services in the Esaase community.
This is a challenging and professionally rewarding opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to really make a mark. Success in this role will be measured by the effectiveness of health service delivery and implemented health programs, both on the EGP site and in the community.

This is a permanent position with a competitive work roster resident in a single status camp environment. The Esaase Camp facilities include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, laundry service, wet mess, sporting facilities (gym, volleyball/basketball and pool tables) and Wi-Fi access.

The remuneration package includes an attractive salary and performance based incentive payments.

Qualification Required & Experience

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Practitioner to put their stamp on a greenfields operation. Having worked in a comparable environment, you will bring a wealth of experience in developing, implementing and managing the health services at the EGP site. The following minimum qualifications and experience will be required:

•   Registration in Ghana, as a Medical Practitioner;
•   Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in the provision of primary health care and emergency medical care – an advantage would be if some of this experience was on a mine, oil and gas, or other industrial site;
•   Post graduate qualification as an Occupational Medical Practitioner will be an advantage;
•   Possession of current (last 3 years) ATLS and ACLS certifications will be an advantage;
•   Demonstrated ability to manage medical staff in a small clinic environment;
•   A strong desire to involve, coach and develop all members of the EGP medical team, in order to ensure efficient delivery of health services;
•   Good computer skills and the ability to perform relevant administrative and reporting functions;
•   Fluency in English;
•   Driving license.
