Job Summary

The role is responsible for effective mine planning, coordination and continuous improvements in Mine Technical functions. It is to enable the the achievement of short-term and long-term business objectives and to provide leadership which will ensure safe, reliable and cost efficient mining operations.

Main Duties

•   Short, medium and long term production planning and scheduling
•   Life of Mine planning, Budget & Forecast preparation
•   Reserve estimation & reconciliation work
•   Coordination of grade control & survey services
•   Staff training and development

Personal Attributes

Managerial: Leadership, communication, people management and teamwork skills essential to success. Problem-solving & change management
Personality: a good blend of open-mindedness, flexibility and honesty

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Mining Engineering or related field
•   7 years operational experience in mining environment with at least three years mine production experience (gold mining experience would be advantageous)
•   Knowledge of CAD-based GIS software, like Vulcan, Surpac, Gemcom, Datemine and Whittle
•   Knowledge of OMBok and / or project management

Some Deliverables:

•   Life of Mine pit production plans
•   Mining Plans, short and long term
•   Prospect Evaluation on sound principles
•   Project descriptions for permitting (EID)
•   Accurate and timely survey coverage
•   Develop and manage a department budget.
•   Compliance with regulatory requirements
