Job Summary

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The purpose of this consultancy is to manage, as per standards, pharmaceuticals, medicines, medical supplies & equipment received at WFP-UNHRD, Accra.

The incumbent will work autonomously under the general supervision of UNHRD manager. The incumbent, as a qualified Pharmacist, will be required to perform the following duties:

•   Submit a work-plan to the UNHRD Manager by providing him/her with advice on how to proceed with the inspection of drugs, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies and give direction on how to re-kit the material, if required.
•   To bring up to date the expiry date/s of drugs, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies by compiling and sending of Certificate of Analyses to UNHRD Manager.
•   Remove expired items and replace them with new unexpired items.
•   Manage drugs under International control and sign documents relating to their movement and scrupulously maintain records of such.
•   Manage pharmaceuticals requiring cold chain conditions, giving directions on how to keep the items stored and during transit.
•   Supervise UNHRD storekeepers to ensure a correct storage, kitting, repackaging and dispatch of the pharmaceuticals and related medical supplies.
•   Instruct the storekeepers regarding the appropriate packaging of the items.
•   Prepare shipping documents for eventual dispatch and/or disposal of the medicines.
•   To keep UNHRD Manager updated with national requirements of importing of medicines and medical supplies.
•   Process all stocks transaction within the system in place.
•   Perform any other tasks as and when required.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University degree in Pharmaceutical Science, licensed by the Ministry of Health in Ghana.
•   A minimum of five years of progressively responsible in the Ghana market; experience in import & export of medical shipments, Knowledge of import/export procedures of controlled medicines. Advanced knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook; SAP knowledge.
•   Sound judgment; ability to extract, interpret, analyse and format data and to resolve operational problems; ability to work with minimum of supervision; to supervise and train support staff; and to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds; ability to work with accuracy under time constraints and pressure and to deal patiently and tactfully with staff members and others and to have a high sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment.

Language

•   Proficiency in written and spoken English, Proficiency in written and spoken French would be an advantage.
