Job Vacancy For Principal (Nurses’ Training College) At Presbyterian Health Services (Bawku, Upper East Region)



Job Purpose:

•   To implement policies and decision of management as regards the utilisation of the resources of the college.
•   To supervise staff of the college, co-ordinate their activities and train nurses to meet the prescribed and required standards

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Initiates specific and measurable targets for the college and ensures their achievement.
•   Promotes the optimisation of resources available to achieve quality training of nurses.
•   Arranges for the provision of resources and facilities for the training of nurses.
•   Establishes and supervises the maintenance of systems and procedures to ensure the comprehensive programming of trainee intake to address the requirements of the country's manpower needs.
•   Co-ordinates the activities of the various units of the college.
•   Directs and co-ordinates the provision of career counselling services to guide outgoing trainees in their career and professional development.
•   Ensures that certification, training standards and requirements meet Ministry of Health standards.
•   Safeguards the college's interest in all financial transactions.
•   Continually improves systems of internal checks to prevent fraud and other financial malpractices.
•   Monitors closely the implementation of budgets to optimise the use of funds for the purpose for which they are allocated

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master's Degree in a health related programme / Management / Educational Administration
•   First Degree in a health related programme / Health Science Education.
•   Certificate, Basic, Post-Basic qualification in a health related programme,
•   Postgraduate Diploma in Education will be an advantage
•   A minimum of 5 years working experience at the senior management level.
•   Duly registered with the relevant statutory body.
•   Evidence of continuous professional development.
•   Evidence of, at least, one published researeh work.
•   A minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience of which 2 years should be as a tutor in a Nurses' or Midwifery Training School.
•   Should not be lesss than 35 years and more than 56 years by September 1, 2014
