Job Vacancy For Procurement Manager



Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive, the Procurement Manager shall ensure the effective procurement of goods, services and works, specifically, the procurement Manager shall perform the following functions:

• Supervise the activities of the procurement department and personnel by training, assigning work and evaluating performance
• Oversee the procurement of goods, services and works in the hospital under the supervision of the Chief Executive
• Plans and implement the procurement system in the hospital as shall be approved
• Evaluate effectiveness of the procurement system and recommended modifications as may be needed
• Prepare yearly procurement plans and ensure that implementation is in time with the funding plan
• Source items using the correct procurement threshold and methods
• Prepare and maintain procurement documentation according to procedures
• Act as a secretary to the procurement committee meeting
• Record and keep minutes / reports of procurement / tender committee meetings
• Maintain a database in order to provide an accurate records / inventory of supplies
• Ensure that the hospital has a strong compliance with all relevant procurement and financial management regulations

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates seeking this position must:

• Applicants must have a degree in purchasing and supply or logistics and supply chain management with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a medium to large organisation with frequent and high volumes of procurement activities.
• Applicants with additional Masters Degree in Procurement, Business Administration or the ultimate qualification from a recognised Chartered Procurement/Logistics and Supply Institute would have an advantage
• A previous experience in procurement of drugs and medical consumables in desirable but not required

• Must possess a strong work ethic, be trustworthy and maintain a high degree of integrity
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel and Access
