Job Vacancy For Production Manager At International Trade Centre (ITC)



The Product Development Centre will undertake product development, train local designers, prototyping, market development and sales promotion activities to develop designs in high-end clothing products for export. This requires the services of a Production Manager who will be fully and directly accountable for production runs, systems documentation, costing, inventory control, productivity enhancement, fair labour systems/practices and the management/maintenance of the production facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities include the following:

•   Define costing and pricing for all production inputs;
•   Define and install systems and controls for all the day to day functional areas of production with a view to enhancing productivity, quality and cost efficiency.
•   Supervise all work units/teams engaged in production processes and outsourcing with community based micro-producers;
•   Work with community micro-producers associated to define costing and pricing for production inputs;
•   Coordinate logistics for shipment of goods imported for production and also for export to buyers:
•   Identify and correct conditions which may adversely affect the processes of production and quality of products
•   Ensure that Fair Labor Codes of Conduct, national labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations are adhered to and appropriately transferred to guide any outsourced production by community-based artisans;
•   Effectively maintain, manage and account for inventories of equipment and other assets, including production materials.
•   Complete all required monthly reporting on production activities, outputs and outcomes, including performance tracking and technical updates on implementation issues.
•   Establish and work in accordance with Product Development Centre standard operating policies and procedures and Fair Labour Association guidelines.

SPECIFICS INCLUDE:

•   Manage raw material, delivery and production.
•   Build and facilitate Standard Procedures and Quality Control Manual.
•   Plan production capacity
•   Create and implement Critical Path for Production and Sampling
•   NegotiatIe fabric, sample/ bulk garment prices and payment terms to ensure cost control.
•   Liaise with the Sales/Accounts on raw materials leftovers after production for discount buys.
•   Partnering with Product Development Team each season to determine sourcing needs
•   Managing raw material booking based on calculated garment production and trims ordering.
•   Reviewing current supplier channels, and negotiating with various suppliers to ensure optimal service standards and budgets.
•   Implementing production strategy
•   Knowledge and contacts of global suppliers relevant
•   An understanding of the luxury contemporary market
•   Excellent knowledge of the process of product development, technical knowledge in pattern cutting and grading.
•   Manage Collection Development from early design and to pre-production.
•   Budget forecast for sampling and production
•   Managing fittings and all development stages
•   Managing technical packs and specs sheets

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Relevant professional training, qualification and established work experience in clothing/textiles production, fashion business and management;
•   At least 7 years’ experience production management working with small scale clothing enterprises;
•   Knowledge of contract production management and experience in costing, budget development and financial reporting;
•   Collaborative management style working with fashion designers and other creatives;
•   Experience with social enterprise development and related socioeconomic programs promoting trade development; and
•   Computer skills and proficiency in excel, word, Microsoft project and access.
