Job Vacancy For Project Coordinator At SOS Children’s Villages Ghana (Tema, Kumasi, Asiakwa and Tamale)



SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGES GHANA is part of a global humanitarian and child welfare organization that provides a stable family environment for children in need and without parental care or at risk of losing parental care with four villages currently in operation in Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi & Tamale. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Programme (FSP). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment as Project Coordinator

Job Summary

The incumbent will be required to provide managerial and functional leadership in coordinating and empowering existing structures and stakeholders for ownership and sustainable quality education delivery at school, community and district levels in the project locations. Incumbent will also be required to play an active advocacy role in facilitating development partnerships in areas of cost sharing with key stakeholders in Education, both traditional and local government leadership and national and civil society structures dealing with education and child protection especially at the district and community levels. Will be responsible for delivering results, making yearly plans and budgets based on a 4 year strategic plan. Will report directly to the National Director and will supervise staff on the project

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum qualification of first degree or equivalent qualification: preferably in Education, Community development or Social sciences with 3 years minimum experience in leading Education & Community Development projects, being responsible for delivering results..
•   Minimum 3 years' experience in managing a staff team consisting of approximately 3 people
•   Excellent Knowledge of the Ghanaian Educational system especially at the basic level and particularly the functioning of GES at the district level
•   Understanding of National and civil society structures dealing with education and child protection especially at the district and community levels. A commitment to tapping the strength and building the capacity of community members as education stakeholders
•   Skills in facilitating development partnerships especially in terms of cost sharing, requiring very good negotiation skills.
•   Wanting to make a difference in education with the ability to hold different stakeholders accountable.
•   Prior experience of working and interacting with the leadership structures in the community (including the complexities of having both traditional and local government leadership) and how these affect education.
•   Versatile communication skills that can be effective at all levels, from school children to District Chief Executives & Senior Ministry Officials.
•   Experience with collecting data and able to follow-up and keep deadlines. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
