Job Summary

IBIS is a Danish International NGO that works for a world in which all people have equal access to education, influence and resources. IBIS in Ghana is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented person to join its Education for Empowerment (EfE) Programme Team to facilitate the implementation of a 3-year Danida-funded project called the Christmas Calendar Project. The project seeks to provide access to quality basic education for out-of-school children living in the hard-to-reach communities in the East Gonja District through the Wing School model.

Duty Station: Salaga (East Gonja District)

Reporting to: Project  Cordinator (Based in Salaga)

Job Purpose:
Working closely with the Project Facilitator, DED and the CSO partners, the Project Supervisor is responsible for monitoring, supervising and motivating the community teachers working at Wing Schools in the East Gonja District.

Key Responsibilities:

•   Organise and conduct animation in the communities on the Christmas Calendar Project
•   Facilitate training of community teachers
•   Monitor, supervise and motivate community teachers
•   Promote greater accountability and good governance with partners and communities
•   Ensure value for money in all transactions and cost effectiveness in recommending proposals, budgets and giving timely feedback on school/community issues
•   Facilitate and strengthen partnership between IBIS, GES and DA
•   Support teamwork by offering effective leadership. Knowledge/Skills Required

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum academic requirement is a first degree in Education, Development Studies or Sociology.
•   A professional teacher
•   At least two years of field experience in working with rural communities, NGO's and education
•   Computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
•   Experience in facilitation and supervision
•   Experiences with managing, co-ordinating and implementing project activities
•   Knowledge of gender analysis
•   Proficiency in speaking, writing and reading Gonja and other local languages spoken in the area (Nawuri and Likpakpaln)
•   Must have initiative and be proactive in the promotion of project activities in the district
•   Familiaries with local customs and traditions of Northern Ghana
•   Ability to ride motor Cycle
