Job Vacancy For Records Officer



A reputable state owned Enterprise is inviting applications from suitable qualified persons for appointments to fill the following position:- Records Officer

Job Functions

•   Coordinates a storage and retrieval system for all records
•   Follow records retention procedures
•   conducts quality assurance audits on all property files
•   Maintains disaster file storage of technical documents, including submittal and retrieval of documents
•   Deals with enquiries and requests for information from both internal and external clients
•   Ensures compliance with applicable fiscal, legal or administrative requirements
•   Classify and index records
•   Ensures that records are easily accessible when needed
•   Facilitates the development of filing systems, and maintaining these to meet administrative, legal and financial requirements
•   Oversees the management of electronic and/or paper-based information
•   Sets-up, maintains, reviews nd documents all records systems
•   Advises on and implements new records management policies and classficiation systems
•   Provides a policy framework to guide staff in the management of their record and use of the employer's records system
•   Preserves corporate memory and heritage
•   Resolves problems with information maangement by effective use of software and other information management resources
•   Enables appropriate access to information
•   Assists staff in other departments on the management of their records and information
•   Performs any other duties that may be assigned from to time

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A degree ion Archival Studies, Information Science, Records Management, Information Management, Librarianship or Museum Studies
•   Three or more years experience with records management
•   Strong computer skills
•   Must be highly organised and detail oriented
•   Must provide careful attention to detail and accuracy
•   Must possess good interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with people

Physical Demands:

•   Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and move heavy packages and records storage boxes weighing up to 15KG, stand and walk continuously over an extended period of time and work in dusty conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
