Job Vacancy For Regional Consultant (Veterinarian & Plant Pathologists)



ACDI/VOCA is recruiting two expert consultants to take part in a study to identify key food safety issues and opportunities for investment within the maize and livestock value chains in four West Africa countries. We are looking for two technical experts,a veterinarian and a plant pathologist to assist in this study

Job Title: Veterinarian & Plant Pathologists, Start Date: April 18, 2016, Term 12-15 days

The objectives of this assessment include:

•   Identifying sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS)-related constraints affecting regional trade of maize and livestock in the West Africa region
•   Mapping current initiatives to address these constraints
•   Identifying gaps in the policy cycle regarding technical areas and deficient institutional capacity that are not currently being addressed
•   Generating a set of actionable recommendations for regional and country level interventions with five or more priority needs identified

Qualification Required & Experience

•   PhD degree in either veterinary sciences or plant pathology or a strong background in food safety issues related to livestock, meat, poultry and maize is required. Strong research and writing and writing skills required conducting assessments around SPS measures.
•   Experience working food safety sanitary/phytosanitary policy issues at the national and or ECOWAS level is strongly preferred.
